Plain and simple, Kansas City rules. With the shining art scene, award-winning barbecue, and thriving Missouri mecca of technology, it's pretty much becoming the coolest and most exciting place in the country. But don't take our word for it — that little Hipmunk chipmunk knows what's up. Planning a trip to Kansas City? Good; use Hipmunk to help. Not planning a trip to Kansas City? Start. And to make it even easier on you, here are some of the best boutique hotels in the Show Me State's most exciting city.

Adam’s Mark Hotel

The family-friendly Adam's Mark Hotel has its own indoor water park with five water slides. Five, you guysNot to mention, it's pet friendly, so Little Tommy doesn't have to leave Spike at home. But if you're not into water parks or pets, the sports fanatic in you will love this place, considering it's next to Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium. And the best part is, there are free shuttles on game days. Bam. Consider yourself already drinking that Double-Wide IPA on the way to see the Kansas City Royals play ball.

Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza

Trevi's Fountain? Pshh. KC's Neptune Fountain is what you're actually after, which, convenient enough for you, is less than a mile from the Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza. And for the art buffs, check out the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, which has free admission and is less than 3 miles away. Complimentary shuttle services that'll take you to spots within 5 miles of the hotel? You sure know the way to a tourist's heart, Hotel Sorella.

Hotel Phillips

Hotel Phillips had us at live, local music three nights a week and complimentary wine and cheese after 5 p.m. on weekdays. But you don't even have to stay at the hotel to keep entertained. Catch a show at the Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland or watch some tennis at the Barney Allis Plaza. Just don't get too greedy — your pet wants in on some Kansas City luxury. While you have to fork over a $50 non-refundable deposit, your pet gets doggy beds, treats from a dog bakery, and canine aromatherapy gifts from Indigo Wild.

Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza

You know the drill — leave on vacation, come back 7 pounds heavier from room service and complimentary cheese. But the good  — or, depending on who you are, terrible — thing about the Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza is that all your excuses to skip out on fitness are squashed under the metaphorical treadmill with its recently renovated 24-hour fitness center. But don't worry. We won't judge if you end up soaking in the outdoor, seasonally heated pool or taking advantage of the hotel's free Wi-Fi instead. It's your Kansas City vacation — own it.

All this goes to show that Hipmunk is super useful when it comes to planning a vacation, and that's why we paired up with them to spread the word. We would never endorse something we don't love, and we obviously love that little chipmunk.
